Hydraulic Fluid
In every hydraulic system, hydraulic fluid plays an important role. It is the heart of the hydraulic system. The medium by which power is transferred in hydraulic machinery is a hydraulic fluid or hydraulic liquid or simple transmission of power is the job of hydraulic fluid. It is the energy transfer medium in all hydraulic systems.
A lot of excess heat in the normal operation of a hydraulic machine is produced. The kind of fluid you have chosen for the application is directly related to the performance of the hydraulic system. For serval purposes, hydraulic fluid is used. Power transfer, heat transfer, and Lubrication are hydraulic fluid's roles. For passing the fluid Hand Pump is used.
Types of Hydraulic Fluid: Under the following two categories all the major hydraulic fluids come:
Fire Resistance Hydraulic Fluid.
Petroleum-based Hydraulic Fluid.
Fire Resistance Hydraulic Fluid: In hydraulic systems, fire-resistant hydraulic fluid is very important. In some hydraulic systems, components must operate at an extremely high temperature, in that case, a fluid you will use that does not ignite easily in the event of a leak. This will help to reduce risk and ensure safety. Hydraulic fluids are used in hydraulic systems that are installed in hazardous areas like the aviation industry, mining industry, automobile manufacturing, etc.
Fir-resistance hydraulic fluids make the environment and workers safe. It requires proper maintenance and checking. A reason for premature failures of hydraulic systems is contamination or low fluid level. There is water-based fire-resistance hydraulic fluid and water-free, synthetic fluids. In water-based fire resistant hydraulic fluid, for the good hydraulic fluid not only alone water is used.
Because the thermal stability, lubrication properties, and corrosion resistance of water are comparatively poor. Mainly there are three types of water fire resistant hydraulic fluid i.e. water-glycol type, W/O (water-oil emulsion), and O/W (Oil in water emulsion). Water-free/synthetic fluids are fire-resistant hydraulic fluids that do not contain water. This type of fluid contains chemicals that can attack hydraulic system components like zinc, cadmium, and plastic.
Petroleum Base Hydraulic Fluid: The fluid is normally a low viscosity petroleum oil in the modern direct hydraulic system. High flash points occur due to petroleum-based hydraulic fluids. Without any risk of fire, no environmental issues, and temperature variation they are most commonly used in the application. Mainly for mobile equipment and other applications, this fluid is ideal. By adding addictive’s to it for improving fluid properties and refining crude oil to the desired level this type of fluid is made.
Three types of petroleum-based hydraulic fluids are categorized, i.e. Additive turbine oil, general hydraulic oil, and particular purpose hydraulic oil. A promising solution for high-efficiency construction machinery is the pump-controlled hydraulic system.
